Fall is officially here and the past few years we have been going pumpkin picking out in Long Island , you can read about it HERE . Shockingly enough we have never taken Jaden apple picking before . This past Friday my dear Mummy friend Kasia and her boys Kasper ( Jaden’s BFF) and his little brother Theo invited us to join them on an apple picking adventure to Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard . We all drove up ( a little over an hour with no traffic from NYC) Friday morning and this meant we avoided the huge school busses full of kids and insane crowds, as well as the ” weekend festivals”. All that was on my mind? Eating the delicious apple cider doughnuts Kasia kept raving to me about.
They were everything she said they would be, these soft pillowy, melt in your mouth apple cider doughnuts. Jaden ,who has never eaten a doughnut in his nine years of life devoured two. I probably ate six or eight ( don’t judge me ). I could not decide which I preferred the plain or the sugar coated, so we ordered dozens of both .
The apple picking is basically a free for all , $25 for a bag or 5 people. We were allowed to roam free all over the orchard . The boys had a blast picking apples and running through the trees. The orchard itself is beautiful and picturesque , I cannot say how the experience would be with huge crowds, if you can, try to go around the crowds. We loved apple picking and the yellow apples were the juiciest of the bunch, we brought home many of those. I am still trying to decide what I shall make with our apple bounty from apple picking this past Friday? In the meanwhile, I gave a few to Jaden this morning to take to his teachers
