The wonderful thing about Facebook is the ability to stay connected with family and friends. Ever so often one of them visits or passes through my beloved New York City. Zita my FB friend had a seven hour layover in New York City yesterday. I was so excited to plan out a layover adventure for my new friend. A few years ago I planned a similar one for my cousin Latoya’s husband Ward . Feel free to read about it Here .
A sunny, snowy, cold Tuesday, Zita and I clicked the instant we met. We bundled up and headed to the first neighborhood we planned to explore. In Soho we stopped by Dean & Deluca to check out the markets and all the lovely spring flowers. Powered up on yummy cupcakes at Georgetown Cupcakes and then to visit the beautiful new macaroon boutique and restaurant Laduree . I hatched a nice plan to walk over to the West Village for martinis at one of my favorite French spots Buvette. We had such lovely conversations over side car martinis. After a long leisurely walk through the West Village looking at all the beautiful shops and bakeries, we headed back to Brooklyn. I took Zita to Dumbo for spicy hot chocolate at Jacques Torres and then to the riverfront to take pictures of the majestic Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. Working up an appetite I decided that before taking Zita to the airport, dinner should be a ” foodie” destination an off the beaten path, so I took her to Roberta’s in Bushwick for oven brick pizza. I had such an awesome time with Zita and I do enjoy showing friends this magical City . It never gets old for me. Hope you enjoy the collage of pics I put together, they were all taken with my iPhone.
