My cousin LaToya and I grew up  together in Trinidad . I later moved to New York City in my late teens, while she migrated to Belgium. Over the years, we have remained close, and look forward to when we are reunited , mostly in New York City for fabulous adventures. Last week she flew to NYC for a short but sweet five day stay with us. We had such an amazing time. Shopping, eating out at fabulous restaurants, hanging with some of my dear friends. On Wednesday 4th, I surprised my cousin with a night of some good ole fashioned New Orleans Blues, at this kinda of secretive venue.

Direct from New Orleans, and on their way to a sold-out 50th Anniversary Concert at Carnegie Hall, the world-renowned Preservation Hall Jazz Band headlined a week of very special late night parties at the McKittrick Hotel, immediately following the performances of Sleep No More ( click on link to read my review on Haute Living for Sleep No More) at 10:30pm.

It was spectacular, we sat front and center and both of us were in awe at the amazing musicians that played at both The McKittrick Hotel and at the Manderley Bar.  I am always looking for off the beaten path, adventures to experience with friends and family. My cousin LaToya and I danced the night away to what we thought  were some of the best jazz and blues , played by the most spectacular musicians . We were not allowed to take pictures or video of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, they were phenomenal. I was able to film this awesome Blues band that also played that night with my 8 mm iphone app. ( Love, Love this app) I hope you enjoy the video.
