Another fabulous adventure with my good friend Tamara and her family today, they invited us to have dinner with them. This time it was  a Harlem adventure, and I was finally trying out a restaurant I had been planning for weeks to go to, The Red Rooster. The Epicurean Man opted to stay home today, a very long week of flying for business and insane meetings, Karate Boy and I totally understood, Daddy needed rest.

In the heart of Harlem, Red Rooster a new restaurant celebrating the roots of American cuisine with a lively neighborhood atmosphere and an eclectic mix of live music.

Run by Marcus Samuelsson, Ethiopian born, but raised in Sweden… is an award-winning chef and cookbook author, Marcus Samuelsson was the youngest chef to ever receive two three-star ratings from The New York Times while at Aquavit as Executive Chef. In 2010 Marcus was the winner of Top Chef Masters Season 2 and also served as the guest chef for the first State Dinner of the Obama administration.

Buzzing with a lively crowd, it was quite exciting walking in. The hubby and I are addicted to the Food Network and we just love Marcus Samuelsson, so you can imagine how thrilled I was, after I told our waitress I was blogging about his newest restaurant, she bought Marcus over to our table to meet us. He was gracious, and shook all of our hands and posed with Shane and Karate Boy. It is such a lovely photograph of them.

Both a sexy and family ambiance, open kitchen, delicious southern cuisine and excellent service all combined to make this Harlem food experience a delight and one that I will try to repeat! There is a very good reason the place is buzzing and reservations are hard to come by! Prices? Very reasonable with entrees in the $12-18 range.

It is a must to having a yummy southern cooking experience. Sexy bar but also great vibes for the family.
