It has been an electrifying 2011 and Karate Boy and I are not wasting any time in the adventure department. We have been busy bodies all week. Tonight we headed to a neighborhood in Brooklyn called http://dumbonyc.com/ . Dumbo’s growing art community offers many galleries and exhibits to peruse, and we were off to the Umbrage Gallery for a reception for Tent Life: Haiti. A book of inspirational photographs by http://www.wyattgallery.com/ featuring an essay by acclaimed Haitian-American author Edwidge Danticat. Published by Umbrage Editions, 100% of the royalties from this book go to Haitian relief organizations: J/P HRO, Healing Haiti, and The Global Syndicate.
Entering the gallery, the energy was alive with dozens and dozens of supporter’s for Tent Life:Haiti and Wyatt. I immediately proceeded to explain to Karate Boy what all the photographs were about… the horrible earthquake that devastated Haiti and the aftermath with the majority of Hatians displaced and now living in tents. He seemed profoundly moved as he walked from photograph to photograph looking at all the images of people, kids like himself living in these horrid and sad conditions. ” Mummy can we please buy a book, will this help the kids?” We purchased a book together and had it signed by Wyatt himself. It was a wonderful night with my little guy .
Please buy this book and support the people of Haiti who still desperately need relief and aid. One hundred percent of the royalties from the book will go to charity.
The book is available for purchase, click on the link to buy it. http://www.tentlifehaiti.com/#/PURCHASE/
