A Monday Night Dinner Party

Post image for A Monday Night Dinner Party

Growing up in Trinidad some of my fondest memories were of my mum’s dinner parties she loved to throw. A hostess to the heart, it was all about the details for her. The apple does not fall far from the tree it seems, I just love to host intimate soiree’s at my home. The yummy mummy brunch, tea parties, informal and formal dinner’s. For my 40th birthday party ( feel free to go to my archives in May to see photos) I hosted along with my hubby a fabulous Havana themed birthday party.

This past Monday, The Epicurean Man and I hosted an informal dinner for two dear friends of ours…James, publicist extraordinaire and his fabulous boy-friend Luca. Mondays tend to be quite manic for me, scurrying Karate Boy to and from school, after school activities and well my normal work load. I had to plan a menu that was delicious, visually pleasing yet can be prepared in an hour…. perfect for a time crunched mum like myself. Roasted chicken with red bliss potatoes and collard greens. To start I made a yummy salad with mixed greens, crumbled blue cheese, dried cran-berries and topped with a drizzle of oil and vinegar dressing. Our lovely dinner guests James and Luca brought the most decadent ice-box cake from Billy’s Bakery, sinful cookies and fresh cream. To top the night off we polished off a few bottles of malbec and cabernet wines. It was a fantastic night of conversations, loads of laughter and yummy food with friends…. good times indeed. I hope you enjoy my photo-diary of the night.

I love these pictures. Such a wonderful atmosphere. And the wine flowed….

Thanks Kirstin,

It gets tricky for me, taking pictures in low light areas with no flash. As Tom puts it, moody atmosphere, very NYC …
