Before I became a mum I thoroughly enjoyed all the fabulous adventures I was able to embark on living in New York City. The Epicurean Man and I would gallivant all over the City on weekends. Our favorite pastime was going on a furniture store crawl in Soho, with intermittant wine and cocktail breaks at all the sexy bistros, along the way. Other times I would meet up with my girlfriends for lunch, more cocktails , or to attend a show or check out a cool art gallery.
The first couple of years of mother-hood, I won’t lie it was kind of complicated for me. The overwhelming responsibilities of caring for a newborn, then the demands of trying to balance, mummy-hood, work, family, friends. I found myself a bit out of sorts. Then as time passed by my adventurous nature started to kick in, call it my survival mode. I thought to myself, maybe I cannot have the same freedom I had pre-child, but DAMN IT, I can sure get creative and get going. I live in one the most dynamic, diversified cities in the world. New York City is laden with fun, fearless and fabulous adventures for the entire family.
I want to welcome you into my world as an Adventurista. As many of my faithful readers know, I was part of The Guiltless movement for a while, it was such a wonderful experience. I hope you all continue to follow me on my continued adventures with The Epicurean Man, Karate Boy and my fellow Yummy Mummy’s on The Adventurista.
My two guys and I are off tomorrow ( August 6th till 15th) to my homeland sweet Trinidad & Tobago, to hang with family and friends and to seek out some Caribbean adventures. I totally intend to do a travel diary while in Trinidad, as well as tweet. Thanks for all the support and love. muuah
Last weekend I had the most amazing time hanging in the Meat-packing District. Friday I met up with my dear, yummy mummy friend Dorka for dinner, cocktails and late night walk on the Highline.
After exploring the Highline, cocktails at Soho House, we walked past Christian Louboutin Store, phooey that it was 10pm and the store was closed
Then on Sunday, Karate Boy and I were off to the Meat-packing District again, this time to attend the Icon’s Show presented by Mr Brainwash, a Los Angeles based filmmaker and Pop street artist.
Karate Boy was drawn in by the huge can of paint as soon as we entered. He also was in awe at all the cool colors and very interested in who the ” Icons” were . We discussed the Beatles, Ray Charles, Mu hammed Ali , he was most excited about the President Barack Obama painting.
Icons presented by Mr Brainwash is still showing and Karate Boy and I highly recommend going with the whole family to see it.
