Obviously photography is all about capturing moments, but it truly is the instant you choose to take the photo which is key. My favourite pictures are often the ones which are unposed, candidly caught snaps in time.
No silly grins, no fancy clothes, just fleeting moments. We went punting this weekend; to Oxford first and then to Cambridge. While Tom punted, the kids looked at life as it passed them by along the river and in my lucky case, I was able to look at them as they watched it. The still, green water served as a dreamy backdrop to the portraits I snapped. I will treasure these pictures in the depths of winter and wonder how it was ever warm enough to go punting and later when the children have grown up, I will treasure these pictures as a memento of how things have changed and marvel at the simplicity of life from a punt.
