A Luscious Mom

I have known Jen for close to 6 years now. An ultimate Yummy Mummy, a loving, supportive, nuturing mother to her beautiful teen-age daughter Jocelyn. Over the past six years we have  spoken often about  following our own dreams, opening her own business, my own  endeavors. Those are some of the common characteristics we  share, ambition and determination. Last year Jen, told me she wanted to open a luxury lingerie/swim wear boutique in downtown Manhattan. I remembered when I met her at one of the locations she was looking at in Nolita/Soho. Excited, nervous, focused was how I described Jen that day. I saw the fire in her eyes, and nothing was going to stop this Mum from making her dreams manifest.

I am so proud to announce the opening of Luscious NYC. This new intimates boutique  located in the heart of Nolita, was  founded by Jennifer , a 10-year veteran of the wholesale business and former merchandising consultant for Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue and Macys.

The lingerie and undergarment boutique  carries a wide range of lacy intimates by designers Stella McCartney, Elle Macpherson, Betsey Johnson and Karla Kolletto as well as renowned brands Cosabella, Hanky Panky, Le Mystere, Wacoal, Cotton Club and Honeydew.

The store displays a beautiful collection of bras, thongs, boy shorts, tangas, panties, corsets, garter belts, rompers & slips. They also feature a variety of swimwear including bikinis, one pieces, monokinis and beach cover-ups by designers Brette Sandler, Red Carter, Caffé Swimwear and Beach Bunny.

Sleepwear such as baby dolls, camisoles, lounge pants, chemises and robes will snuggle gently against skin moisturized by Bath & Body products such as body scrubs, lotions, body oils, facial tonics & creams.

I dropped in on Jen recently at her boutique Luscious to interview her for The Adventurista. The energy of Nolita is electrifying  and as you enter the boutique, you are transcended to a sexy boudoir that is both warm and full of light at the same time. Jen is waiting on me , looking yummy mummy as usual, this time wearing one of her  store’s insanely sexy, red lacy bra, playing peek-a-boo thru her  polka dot dress. Her significant other is also there, waiting in the wings to swift her off to cocktails and lunch. WOW how fabulously European  of both of them, I thought.

             Jen, thanks so much for spending some time with The Adventurista to answer a few questions.

            What was your inspiration and motivation to open Luscious? 

I was inspired by my travels abroad throughout Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America and so I created a global platform for swim wear and intimates designers from all over the world. The goal is to offer high-end service in a neighborhood pulsating with the beat of New York City: Nolita.

 

 Were there any set-backs that made you feel defeated? And if so, what got you thru and above them to succeed?

As in any start-up, there and set-backs… I have learned to stick to my vision & trust my gut instinct. A wise person once told me: “The secret of success is the consistency of purpose.” I live by these words daily.

 

 As a single Mum, is their any advice you would like to give our readers on how to balance it all, Work, family, social life?

I have been blessed with an incredibly supportive family and close friends.  Surround yourself with strong, like minded individuals; stay focused and positive.  In this world anything is possible with perseverance. You CAN have it ALL:)

 

At The Adventurista we preach making sure to make time for oneself. To allow yourself  as a mum,  not  to feel guilty doing something solely for ” her” outside of family. Jen, what is your guiltless pleasure?

TRAVEL.  I am completely obsessed with foreign cultures. There is so much beauty in this world. I want to discover it all!

 

Living in NYC , I find so many wonderful adventures that I can do with my son The Karate Boy. Whether it is a museum, park, new restaurant, show etc, in all boroughs. What are your 5 favorite things to do with your daughter in New York city?
