Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing daddy’s out there. I want to say to The Epicurean Man, thank you for being the rock in our family. I tend to sometimes vent about the endless scary movies he allows Karate boy to watch. And well there is the lack of extra curricular activities between them, since The Epicurean Man is mostly tired on weekends, due to his very hectic work schedule during the week.
I want to say that even though I tend to complain a bit about these things, it is done in a light-hearted manner. Since I have been honored and blessed to witness how extremely loving The Epicurean Man is with our son. When asked in school ” what is the greatest thing about your Dad?”. Karate boy replied ” when my daddy comes home he gives me so much hugs and kisses”. Beyond even the love fest between them, The Epicurean Man single handley is responsible for Karate boy even being alive today.
Three months premature, emergency C-section at 25 weeks pregnant, the doctor before prepping me for surgery goes down a list of things that will go wrong with our very premature baby. If he did survive, there was the 85 % chance of cerebral palsy, blind-ness, severe developmental delays, the list went on and on. At this point the doctor looked at both of us and asked if we wanted to resuscitate the baby once delivered ( if we said no, the baby would not live) . I was speechless, frozen in fear, The Epicurean Man with his firm strong voice told this doctor ” we will take our son however he comes, resuscitate him”. Well everyone knows our outcome, and the beautiful, healthy Karate boy, that is with us today.
He may not be the text book perfect parent, hell I certainely am not. When I look at The Epicurean Man, I am filled with gratitude for our son being alive today, and I smile at the loving, sweet, relationship they have.
Happy Father’s Day Joseph.
