There is a reason why I am so madly in love with New York City, because it is the only place on earth that has so many different cultures, scenarios, places off the beaten path to find and discover for the first time, even if you have lived here for many, many years.

Last night I invited a fellow yummy mummy friend of mind, Marsha to join me on an adventure to discover one of those ” off the beaten path type of places”. I was invited to attend a ” Lapa party” at the  www.ravelhotel.com.

“Lapa” is a place in downtown, Rio de Janeiro where everything happens. That’s where people gather to play music, to dance, to sing, to have fun, to be happy, to love…In Lapa, Rio de Janeiro, the Samba Never Stops. Omg my kinda vibes for sure.

At Lapa, resident Dj’s ANDERSON  & MILLER CRUZ were  spinning the hottest mix of the old and new of Brazilian Samba, Pagode, Samba-Rock, Soul, Funk, Forró and a touch of Reggae and world Music…Special guest  Dj in NYC, Dj SID VAGA were spinning the sexiest mix of Afro/Soul/Latin/Funk house beats . Lord have mercy!!! Live music was performed by “Saveiro”… Playing from samba, to pagode, to forro and more!!

Marsha and  I met, and with the address of the Ravel hotel plugged into my navigation system off we went on a yummy mummy adventure, for some guiltless fun. The Ravel hotel  is located in Long Island City, (Long Island City has one foot planted in Queens and the other in Manhattan). Industrial yet kind of sexy. The super stylish newest member to the boutique hotel craze, Ravel Hotel has the sexiest roof-deck in all of Queens. By the water in LIC, right under the Queens-borough bridge.. It a beautiful spot with a great view, nice atmosphere, sexy people and an awesome vibes!!

Marsha and I felt literally transported to another place, the views were breat-taking, the music sizzling, we sat drank sangrias and just had the best time ever. I am so happy Marsha joined me on discovering a new place, we both shall be back again very soon….for some Guiltless fun
