The Return of the Cherries. With added lightsabers, feminism and a new lens.

Post image for The Return of the Cherries. With added lightsabers, feminism and a new lens.

I took Ella and Miles to the Kent Countryside today. We went to Knole, home of the Sackville family. While I told Ella about Virginia Woolf, feminism and the Bloomsbury set, Miles walked behind us, muttering. When I eventually asked him what he was doing, he told me that he was making a gun. We do not like guns, I replied. OK then he said, it’s a lightsaber. Made out of a stick. It gives you powers. You have to call me Luke now, he added for full effect. On the way home, we picked up my new prime lens (20mm F1.7) and I bribed Ella to pose with the bowl of cherries. She took her reward, the cherries, into her den to munch on while finishing her book.

This lens is fast and compact. I am hoping to use it to photograph food! Lighting; I had a white sheet behind Ella, a skylight from above and an enormous reflector shining onto the cherries. Plus I over-exposed it. I must move on from cherries, but I do love them so!

Gosh have to get the lingo for photography down like you.. so how does one over-exposed a shot? And what is an enormous reflector?
