Yesterday The Epicurean Man and I took Karate Boy and Lego Dude (Jaden’s cousin Daniel) to  see warships at Fleet Week in the City, http://www.intrepidmuseum.org/Fleet-Week-Schedule.aspx. The boys got up close and personal with American Navy ships and sailors while they are stationed at the Intrepid. It was also us grown-ups first time at Fleet Week. Epicurean Man and I were also in awe at the huge ships . Great fun for the family we both agreed, and suggest if you can get out before it ends, do so.

There is a lot going on at the Intrepid while the ships are in town: tours of the visiting ships, piers filled with displays from nearly every branch of the military plus NYPD and FDNY.  During the weekend they will be presenting performances from Promises Promises, American Idiot, Addam’s Family, Million Dollar Quartet, Hair, Wicked and the Rockettes on the flight deck. Plus live music, the popular tug of war and jousting competitions between various military branches.  A visit Monday will allow you to watch the solemn Memorial Day Ceremony where they unfurl an enormous American Flag and military planes fly overhead.  FREE with museum admission.
