My latest obsession has been the newest addition to the list of Clinton Hill’s coffee houses, Urban Vintage, located on 294 Grand Ave ( bet. Lafayette & Clifton Place). A beautifully appointed cafe and boutique, the brainchild of sister’s Elizabeth and Emily Hazelwood, 26 and 23 respectively. You can’t help but appreciate and admire their shared passion for interior design and vintage furniture. Exquisite sofa and arm-chairs, that customer’s lounge in while they sip their coffee. Beautiful draperies, loads of natural light from the sun beaming through the majestic windows. Fun and exotic knick-knacks for gifts. Baby clothes made by local designer’s. Elizabeth and Emily are so delightful, always smiling and excited to talk about the designers and items they sell.

 Elizabeth Hazelwood manages her counter.

The coffee is by far one of the best in the neighborhood.  What a treat croissants ($1.95-$2.95) from Balthazar. Since I was there  specifically to write a review on the food at Urban Vintage, I ordered a few dishes off the menu. My favorite, chicken sliders ($6.95), which come three-to-an-order with a large salad on the side. The pressed baked brie sandwich ($7) with turkey, rosemary, (wrapped in the cutest bow) and finally a fresh grilled chicken salad ($7.25) with sliced almonds, dried cranberries and a raspberry vinaigrette. All so yummy and I am just in love with this cafe. I intend to spend many more afternoons with my lap-top, sitting at one of the cozy tables, Billie Holiday playing on the stereo…writing for The Guiltless.
